TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The deadline to apply for the Tallahassee Citizens Review Board has been extended.
Interested parties now have until January 5 to apply.
The nine-member Review Board will have the power to look over cases involving Tallahassee police conduct, such as officer-involved shootings, and make recommendations on policy change.
Each commissioner will appoint a member, then collectively appoint the rest of the board together.
City Attorney Cassandra Jackson says about 50 people applied, but they're extending the opportunity for a more diverse crowd.
"We had a great number of individuals to make applications, but we only had three-person nominated by social or civic organizations," said Jackson. "We want to have the broadest cross-section of the community that we can get."
