WOODVILLE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Tallahassee Fire Department has responded to a more than 40-acre brush fire in the area of Old Plank Road and Regiment Loop in southeast Leon County.
Firefighters say the fire spread to 40-50 acres past the intersection of Natural Bridge Road and Old Plank Road near Regiment Loop Wednesday afternoon but has since been contained.
Three houses were threatened by the flames but have been saved by crews. So far, the most damage the homes have suffered are melted siding, according to officials.
TFD Members are on scene at Old Plank and Natural Bridge Rd. Approximately 40 acres of wild land fire. Contained, 3 homes saved.

No injuries have been reported though officials don't know how the fire started. Roads are expected to be opened back up soon.
TFD crews, the Florida Forest Service and the Woodville Volunteer Fire Department, are still on scene.

According to the United States Forest Service, a fire is "contained' when a barrier around the fire has been completed.
