TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — There's a new reason to visit Florida's Capital City.
March has been a huge month for Tallahassee's Craft Breweries, winning awards and showcasing their products at festivals across the state.
For Tallahassee's beer scene, the last few weeks have been nothing short of exciting.
"For Tallahassee to go to Hunahpus Festival, take one and two for best brewery and best beer. That's not something that anybody could foresee even five years ago," said Matthew Crumbaker, Co-Founder of Tallahassee Beer Society.
Five years ago, the lone craft brewery in the Capital City was Proof Brewing Company. Now, Tallahassee residents and visitors alike can get their beer fix at five different places.
"Being able to be globally recognized as making awesome beer, there's people that travel just for that. We get people calling regularly about all sorts of things," said Paul Woodward, Co-Founder of Ology Brewing.
Both Ology Brewing Company and Proof won prestigious awards this month and now they're recognition is having a positive impact on Tallahassee's economy.
"It drives people to us, the day we won the award, people were coming up asking us, if Ology was going to be open on Sunday because they were going to drive up here, see Ology and get back to Tampa for their flight home," said Woodward.
"Beer consumers, craft beer consumers, there are certain cities that they look to and say 'there's not going to be a bad beer that comes out of there and they'll just go to that destination and hop around and see the sights,'" said Crumbaker.
Proving everytime someone has a pint of a Tallahassee crafted brew, it gives them a taste of the Capital City too.
"I'm from Tallahassee, so for me it's been defined as the Legislature and Florida State. This gives us something that we can really latch onto that's not tied to either one of those things," said Crumbaker. "It gives Tallahassee another notch, another reason to come here and look at us."
