LEON COUNTY, Fla. — Baseball fever doesn't stop with Florida State. Leon County Commissioners took another stab at next year's budget Tuesday and that means another baseball field could be coming to the county.
Leon County leaders want to improve the quality of life for those living here and what better way to do that than by building another ball field.
Commissioners agreed to invest $800,000 to complete a baseball field project already in the works at Daniel B. Chaires Park.
Currently, the fields only accommodate the little league level, but now thanks to the funding, the new field will accommodate middle school aged children, something Leon County Commissioner Kristen Dozier says will hopefully make everyone happy.
"Parents they don't like driving across town for so many games, they're still going to have to do that," said Dozier. "Teams will play at different fields but It's really good I believe to have amenities in all of our districts, in the rural areas of the county to accommodate all the families that live out in those areas."
Commissioner Dozier says the commissioners plan on also improving the basketball and tennis courts at Chaires Park, that will be a separate agenda item.
