(WTXL) — The Florida Department of Transportation says drivers will experience traffic disruptions on the following state roads in the Big Bend area as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Gadsden County
- County Road (C.R.) 65A at Juniper Creek– Construction is underway to replace the existing bridge over Juniper Creek. Additional improvements include new guardrail, new pavement, minor drainage improvements, sodding, and placement of new pavement markings. Motorists will utilize State Road (S.R.) 65, C.R. 65B, C.R. 65D and C.R. 274 as a detour route until spring 2020.
Leon County:
- S.R. 265 (Magnolia Drive) Resurfacing from U.S. 27 (Apalachee Parkway) to 7th Avenue– Lane closures are planned from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday from Apalachee Parkway to 7th Avenue and Apalachee Parkway and Magnolia Drive. Work will occur during day and nighttime hours at the intersection of Apalachee Parkway and Magnolia Drive for road widening activities
Jefferson County
- Curtis Mill Road over Buggs Creek – Curtis Mill Road is closed for construction. Construction is underway to replace the existing bridge on over Buggs Creek. Additional improvements include new guardrail, new pavement, minor drainage improvements, sodding, and placement of new pavement markings. Motorists will utilize Thompson Valley Road, Turkey Scratch Road and Drifton-Aucilla Highway as a detour route until spring 2020.
- S.R. 20 and Aucilla River Bridge Replacement – Work will resume Monday, Jan. 6. Motorist should expect intermittent lane closures for pile jacket installation.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
Motorists are reminded to pay attention to the speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
