TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Another group looking to fill the need for seniors is the Community Thrift Market in Tallahassee, but they need your help.

Each year, they giveaway hundreds of holiday meals to seniors with donations from the community.

Meals are delivered Thanksgiving morning to Lake Ella Manor, Miccosukee Hill and other seniors in Tallahassee.

Normally the store is filled with canned fruits and vegetables but due to the pandemic, this time around that's not the case.

Karen Loewenn, executive director of Tallahassee Action Grants, said they need the community's help.

"It's been a lot slower because we haven't had as many customers in and some of our good customers and donors are not coming in the store because we haven't had as many customers in and some of our really good customers and donors are not coming in the store because of COVID," said Loewenn. "We did an Amazon wishlist and we got a lot that way but we're still about halfway to where we normally are."

Donations can be dropped off at their location on Capital Circle North East. They are hoping to feed 150 seniors this year.
