TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Flags flown were flown at half-staff for Capitol Police Director Chris Connell.

He died last weekend and a celebration of his life was held Friday.

The service was quite an emotional one. All to recognize a man who gave his life to law enforcement for over 30 plus years.

There was heavy support from Tallahassee Fire and Police Departments with Capitol Police saying their final goodbyes to their Chief.

Governor and First Lady DeSantis were in attendance along with Senator Rick Scott to pay their respects to Connell.

Steve Outlaw, Interim Tallahassee Police Chief, says he was a perfect example of a leader.

"He was a fantastic example for other people and leaders to how to be a leader. There was never any alternative motive," said Outlaw.

Fellow law enforcement officers shared memories of Connell. One officer calling him ‘Mr. Dependant."

All to to remember a truly remarkable man.
