THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WTXL) — The Thomasville community is showing support for a beloved school resource officer.

Deputy Donald Franklin was recently working underneath his personal car, when the car shifted into gear and caused him severe concrete burn.

The Thomas County Sheriff's Office posted a link to a GoFundMe for the deputy that, in just two days, has raised more than $7,000 to aid with Franklin's medical bills.

"Donald is one of the most likable people you're ever going to meet," said Steven Jones, a captain with Thomas County Sheriff’s Office. "We got him into the SRO position over at the elementary school and it was like it was tailor made for him. The kids love him, the staff love him, the parents love him."

Deputy Franklin is currently recovering at home on sick leave.
