TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Community leaders are making sure those in minority areas are prepared for how the coronavirus pandemic may affect them.

Tallahassee Urban League CEO and President, Curtis Taylor, is looking to work with city leaders on programs to help low-income families.

He says he's already had calls from people who need help feeding their kids and people laid off due to the pandemic.

Taylor says financial relief for families is going to play a big part once this is over.

"We need to continue to work with our local government so that we can secure additional resources that are going to be needed after this to help our citizens," said Taylor. "Especially in our low income community. Matter of fact, we need it now. We need it today."

Taylor also stressed the importance of staying home and adhering to CDC guidelines.
