LEON COUNTY, Fla. — In the third installment of summits in Leon County, community members believe they're coming to a consensus on what makes the 32304 zip code the poorest in the state of Florida.

Last October, Florida Chamber of Commerce President, Mark Wilson, said the northwest side of Tallahassee has the highest rate of people living in poverty compared to any other zip code in the state.

Since then, community leaders have been getting down to the root issues on what produces food insecurity and poverty among residents.

"Poverty results from a lot of different elements; it's not just one thing: it's education, it's healthcare, it's employment, it's family economics, it's the family itself," said Curtis Richardson, Tallahassee, Mayor Pro Tem.

The next summit will continue to focus on how to organize the public, private, and non-profit sectors in the community.
