TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Seeing less crime, safer streets, and new growth, that's what we all want in our neighborhoods.
Tallahassee's Bond community is working with city leaders to make it a reality, with a unique twist.
The purpose is to break down the barriers of intimidation of talking to the mayor, instead to just having a conversation with a friend.
It's a way to have an informal meeting with Mayor John Dailey in a place that most of the Bond neighbors can feel at home.
That way they can ask questions and give their concerns straight to the source.
"Now government is coming into your house, so to speak, they are not asking to come downtown to a meeting where they feel intimidated, but we're showing up," said Pastor James C. Vaughn Jr., of Greater Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church. "He wants to listen, this is not a gripe session, it's not about pointing the fingers but it's about he wants to hear your voice. His staff will be here and then we will be able to have his ear and he'll see whats going on in the community."
Pastor Vaughn says they plan on having more of these types of events so the city and the bond neighborhood can continue to improve.
