FWC identifies men in boating accident near Alligator Point

Search continues for missing boater

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The identities of the three men involved in the boating accident near Alligator Point Sunday night have been released.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the boating accident occurred on Sunday, just before 6:00 p.m.

They say three individuals were on board of a 49-foot Cary Marine vessel when it sank off of Alligator Point.

FWC says Wallace Rogers, a 62-year-old man from Little Rock, Arkansas, was the person who died when the boat sank. Beaumon Rogers, a 60-year-old man from Madisonville, Louisiana, was the person who was rescued then taken to Tallahassee memorial Hospital.

The U.S. Coast Guard and FWC is still searching for Darren Peterson, a 46-year-old man from Montrose, Colorado.

The Coast Guard continued their search throughout the night and changed out crews Tuesday morning.

Authorities don't know what caused the accident or if weather related to Tropical Storm Nestor is to blame.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has confirmed that one of the three people involved in a boating accident near Alligator Point has died.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says the Coast Guard received a report around 6 p.m. Sunday night from FWC after they discovered a partially submerged 49- foot vessel about four nautical miles south of Alligator Point.

After arriving on scene, FWC says they began searching for the missing individuals.

Members of Coast Guard Station Panama City located two of the three people early Monday after searching overnight.

One of the people was found deceased and the other person was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital by EMS.

The U.S. Coast Guard, along with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, are currently searching for the third missing person.
