Missing boater found dead after search and rescue mission in Wakulla County

WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The man who disappeared after his boat capsized near Goose Creek Bay in Wakulla County has been found dead.

The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office says Richard Clifton was found dead around 3 p.m. Wednesday. His body was in the water about a mile and a half to two miles between Wakulla Beach and Shell Point Beach.

FWC is still investigating the incident.


The Coast Guard is searching for a missing boater after a 12-foot boat capsized near Goose Creek Bay in Wakulla County early Wednesday morning.

The Coast Guard says they received a report at around 2 a.m. CST of a capsized 12-foot aluminum boat, with one person on board.

The vessel was recovered approximately two nautical miles south of Goose Creek Bay by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission.

The boater aboard, 34-years-old Ricky Charles Clifton, is still missing. They say he was last seen wearing a jacket with coveralls and a yellow shirt.
