COOK COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — Cook County Board of Education unanimously approved a mask mandate for all school buildings, including in classrooms through the end of the month.
Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tim Dixon said their intent is not to send students to In-School Suspension or alternative schools as a punishment for not wearing a mask.
Dr. Nixon also said allowances will be made for medical issues that prevent the wearing of masks.
At the end of January, will evaluate the school district's coronavirus data and decide whether to extend the mandate.
Vaccinations are currently being administered in Cook County.
