City of Tallahassee to name new police chief on Thursday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The City of Tallahassee is expected to name a new police chief on Thursday.

According to the city, Tallahassee City Manager Reese Goad will announce the new Chief of Police for the City of Tallahassee.

The announcement will take place on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Tallahassee Police Department headquarters.

Seven people are in the running to be the next chief after Major Lonnie Scott submitted his resignation to TPD on Monday and Antonio Gilliam backed out of the position last week.

  • TPD Major Lawrence Revell
  • Broward Sheriff's Office Colonel John Dale
  • Lake City Police Chief Argatha Gilmore
  • Quincy Police Chief Glenn Sapp
  • Chief of the Department of Youth & Accreditation Services for the Leon County Sheriff's Office Audrey Smith
  • Deputy Chief of Orlando Police Eric Smith
