QUINCY, Ga. (WTXL) — The City of Quincy is taking a moment of silence, remembering the sacrifice of those who fought for their country.
City leaders, along with the fire and police departments, participated in Taps Across America.
The ceremony was a bit different than usual as everyone in attendance wore masks.
Cities across the country stopped at 3:00 p.m. for a moment of silence.
Commissioner Angela Grant Sapp says despite the pandemic honoring our veterans is something we must do.
"I honor those veterans who gave their lives to give us freedom," said Grant Sapp.
There were noticeable changes in the solemn ceremony with first responders wearing protective equipment and maintaining six feet of distance for safety.
Grant Sapp says she is looking forward to next year when they can celebrate like they used to.
