MARIANNA, Fla. (WTXL) — One year after Hurricane Michael businesses are still trying to recover.

And business owners say finding employees to work is another struggle.

That's why CareerSource Chipola is making it their mission to have locals work in the region again.

They have launched an initiative called 'Chipola Works.'

The organization is working with businesses to help match job openings with people in the area.

Executive Director of CareerSource tells us why they started the initiative.

"One of the things that we realized is that we have a lot of people that leave this area to go to work in other locations more urban locations because they just think that's where they have to go to get good jobs and we've a lot of good jobs here that are going unfilled because we have people leaving," said Richard Williams, Executive Director of CareerSource Chipola.

Williams says people in the area are slowly recovering and they will help as many people and businesses as they can.
