TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — While a lot of you will wrap the day with the boom of fireworks, others kicked the holiday off a bit more mellow.

Capital City Band of Tallahassee Community College, open to anyone in the community, played a few of the nation's most patriotic songs, including of course the national anthem and star-spangled banner.

Michael Grant, Capital City Band Director, says he loves when they play there because people truly seem to enjoy it.

"Residents here grew up listening to marches and listening to patriotic music and so it takes them back to a time that was good for them and we enjoy taking them back to that," said Grant.

Grant says at least 300 people show up to listen every year.
