TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The search continues for the Tallahassee Police Department's new home.
The two possibilities, a Water Treatment Plant on Lake Bradford, or the Northwood Centre.
Now, businesses close to the Northwood Centre are speaking out about what they think.
Two businesses we spoke to on Tuesday, are in favor of the Northwood Centre location for TPD to set up shop. They just hope they'll get to stay, too.
The Tallahassee Ballet has been located at the Northwood Centre for six years. CEO Janet Pichard welcomes the possibility of TPD headquarters moving there, but hopes they will not have to relocate.
"If we have a new partner next door we welcome it," said Pichard. "We've known for a while now that Northwood Centre is transitioning and we are actually very thrilled that's it's been done with the city of Tallahassee."
After the site was purchased, Pichard met with the mayor and says the city offered to work with them, if they had to move.
"Now that they're looking at having TPD here it'd be great if we can also stay here but if not, I'm confident the city will give us time to relocate and find a new place," said Pichard.
Just up the street, North Florida Animal Hospital are also excited about the potential site.
The hospital cares for TPD's K-9 Unit. Alice Malone, Practice Manager at North Florida Animal Hospital, says having them nearby, would make the business a safer space.
"I'd enjoy having the police department close by. I think that level of security and safety and people doing business with the police department would be great," said Malone.
Now both businesses are waiting to see what the city will decide.
Pichard says if the Tallahassee Ballet does have to move, it would be expensive.
The city is holding its final community meeting of the year on the sites Tuesday at the Tallahassee Senior Center.
