TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — The Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency is hearing from people in the Buckhead neighborhood of Tallahassee who want to shift a major development project.

The Northeast Gateway project is supposed to help ease traffic congestion on roads like Centerville and Miccosoukee by connecting them to Welaunnee Boulevard.

The plan now has traffic crossing right in front of the Buckhead neighborhood.

The neighborhood's Homer Owners Association drew up alternative plans to shift future commercial development away from their subdivision.

"It's not attractive for residential so we proposed a realignment more to the northeast to move that commercial, first of all, away from Buckhead," said Robert Apgar, a Buckhead resident.

That shift could cost the Blueprint agency an additional $3.1 million if approved.
