LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — Leon County hosted their largest robotics expo ever on Tuesday welcoming 29 teams made up of students aged Kindergarten through fourth grade.

Each team had to pick a problem and find a solution. The theme this year was mission moon.

Teams built and programmed robots to do laundry, eat, and just live on the moon.

This expo, held at Buck Lake Elementary, is all about getting children interested in STEM subjects in an inspiring and stimulating way.

"Kids are not getting enough STEM in school. We understand that there's not enough money and there's a lot of reasons that may be. But we're looking for kids who don't even know that they're interested in it. This could be the one thing that sets them off to say wow I didn't know it could be this fun," said Rick Soria, Doolittle Institute STEM Outreach Coordinator.

Each team at the Leon County expo presented their research and solution to the problem they chose, to a panel that reviews the projects.
