BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) — A man is behind bars after officers say he committed multiple burglaries, including one at a church, and repeatedly ransacked Georgia Industries for the Blind to steal from gum vending machines.

George Lorenza Haire, 54, was arrested by Bainbridge Public Safety.

According to BPS, on three different occasions, Haire was seen on video surveillance breaking into Georgia Industries for the Blind (GIB) and damaging gum and vending machines. He was also seen on video breaking into Elberta Crate and damaging several more vending machines.

On Oct. 10, officers saw Haire walking near Georgia Industries for the Blind.

Haire agreed to be transported to Bainbridge Public Safety Headquarters for questioning. During the interview, Haire admitted to committing the burglaries at GIB and at Elberta Crate.

Officers went to Haire’s home and found items believed to have been used in the burglaries. The items included a pry bar, clothing, shoes, and gloves.

Haire cooperated with officers and confessed to also committing burglaries at the City of Bainbridge Public Works building, Rentz Irrigation, Lee Merchant Signs, Bainbridge Church of God, and Storage Buildings located on West College Street near the railroad tracks.

He is being charged with multiple felony counts of first degree burglary.
