BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) — Bainbridge Public Safety is warning the public of how closing bedroom doors before going to sleep can help save your life during a fire.

In a Facebook post, BPS showed perfect examples why you should always close bedroom doors before going to sleep at night.

Officials say this practice buys you more time to escape during a fire, limits your toxic gas and smoke intake, and significantly slows the spread of flames.

BPS also is encouraging the practice of "close before you doze" to be taught to children.
