Man arrested after burning body discovered on West Pensacola Street

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — A man has been arrested after a burning body was discovered in the woods just off West Pensacola Street.

The Tallahassee Police Department says they have arrested Little Daniel Owens in connection to a death investigation in the 2600 block of West Pensacola Street.

Police say they initially responded to the area for a report of a body found burning within a pile of clothes. Due to the nature of the scene, the State Fire Marshal responded to assist with the investigation.

During the investigation, Owens was identified as a suspect and taken into custody for questioning.

Based on their findings, probable cause was developed to charge Owens with abuse of a dead human body. Owens was then transported to the Leon County Detention Facility where he is being held on no bond.

TPD says additional charges are pending.

The Tallahassee Police Department is investigating after a body was found in the woods near West Pensacola Street.

Police say officers are currently investigating a death near the 2600 block of West Pensacola Street.

At approximately 4:28 p.m., officers arrived on scene to find a deceased person in the woods. The body was discovered right near where a shooting took place Monday afternoon.

The case has been assigned to investigators with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. At this time, they are interviewing all known witnesses and processing the scene.
