Families across Tallahassee hit the pavement to raise awareness about the importance of mentorship Sunday afternoon.

With face-to-face fundraisers being put on pause, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend hosted their 'Walk for Kids Sake' fundraiser.

Money from the fundraiser will go towards putting kids with mentors, with the average cost of mentoring around $1,500 per child.

CEO Alva Striplin said now more than ever do kids need a positive adult role model in their life.

"We provide a lot of support services," said Striplin. "We provide training, we provide support for the match in the form of administrative support. Safety is our number one concern. We do a lot of back ground check so there is a cost to attached to that and it takes resources to be able to run the agency

Last year, the organization was able to help 600 kids find mentors.
