TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — One hundred kids are getting free laptops thanks to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend.

The non-profit worked with community partners to raise $17,000 to give to their youth mentees.

Parents were able to pick them up at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend in Tallahassee.

The group says, with everyone social distancing during the coronavirus crisis, they wanted to make sure the kids could still stay connected

"We realized when we started transitioning with our matches that the lack of technology was going to affect some of our kids, and not in a good way," said Alva Striplin, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend. "They were going to not have communication with their big brother or big sister and they were really going to struggle with their education."

Big Brothers Big Sisters says if they get enough donations, they will continue to buy more laptops for littles.
