TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — January marks National Mentoring Month and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend are spreading the word about this and their need for more mentors.
The organization provides strong role models for children in the Big Bend and helps bring smiles to the youth in the community.
The Match Support Specialist at Big Brother Big Sisters of the Big Bend, Dakota DeYent, grew up getting help from them.
"I just know there's a kid out there that was in my exact position who may not be getting something or have that positive role model in their life, so that kind of motivates me to help them," said DeYent. "Give them what I had ... the same opportunity at least."
DeYent says that he hopes to see more mentors help out in 2020 and help kids that are in need of a role model.
