TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Bethel Missionary Baptist Church is giving families everything from Turkeys to teddy bears so 400 families will have a Christmas.
Lines of cars wrapped around the church this afternoon all to get food for a holiday meal.
Everything was first come first serve and people lined up hours ahead of time.
The church's compassion ministry says they have seen the impacts of food insecurity and decided to do something to help.
Emily Williams came to the giveaway Friday and says she feels like a weight has been lifted.
"We're really thankful. This is a lot of help and you don't have to worry about where you going to get the money for food, said, Williams.
The church also had some help from the Lincoln High School football team.
Players pitched in loading cars with food.
Bethel Baptist has also adopted seven families at Bond Elementary to help this holiday.
The chair of the compassion ministry says they are already looking to 2021 to find more ways to help the community.
