BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) — A Bainbridge street sweeper has been completely destroyed after catching on fire.

According to Bainbridge Public Safety, a city street sweeper caught on fire Monday morning as workers were preparing to pave Randolph Street.

Officers say the operator of the sweeper was able to jump off as soon as he noticed the flames and was not injured.

The fire caused a road closure on Alice Street between Tallahassee Highway and Lake Douglas Road.

Authorities say the roads have been reopened, but the equipment is a total loss.
