BAINBRIDGE, Ga. — Officers in Bainbridge are helping the local kids stay cool this summer with popsicles.

Kids who come out to Bainbridge Public Safety get to choose between a free popsicle or ice cream sandwich.

On average, about 15 to 20 kids come by for ice cream and meet the officers. Some of the kids even get to tour the facility and see the fire trucks.

For Bainbirdge Public Safety officers, they are doing more than keeping the kids cool during the hot days.

"Try to build a relationship with the kids, a good relationship with the kids. Handing out ice cream is fun. It's hot, so the kids enjoy it," said Lakatie Reels, BPS officer.

Bainbridge Public Safety hands out the frozen treats Monday through Friday, 2-4 p.m., until the weather cools down.

Each kid is allowed one ice cream or popsicle per day.
