HAVANA, Fla. (WTXL) — Deputies are searching for a suspect spotted breaking into a home in the 900 block of Merritt Avenue Thursday morning.

A spokesperson with the Gadsden County Sheriff's office confirmed to ABC 27 that they received a call around 10 a.m. from a neighbor who saw a suspicious car in another neighbors driveway in the 900 block of Merritt Avenue.

GCSO said that what the neighbor witnessed was an unarmed burglary taking place.

The sheriff's office already had heavier patrol in the area because of the holidays. Because of the extra deputies in the area, they were able to cut off the burglars as they tried to get away.

During the chase, where GCSO was assisted by the Florida Highway Patrol, one of the men jumped out of the car and ran into the woods near the Scotland Road community.

Deputies were able to arrest the driver, identified as James T. Pritchard, Jr., but said Thursday that the other suspect is still on the loose. That suspect has now been identified as Dalton Reid Jett.

Pritchard, Jr., has been charged with burglary of a dwelling, criminal mischief and possession of drugs while Jett is wanted on those same charges.

If you have information, you are asked to contact the GCSO at (850) 627-9233 or Big Bend Crime-stoppers (850)574-(TIPS) 8477.
