LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — The Emergency Management Agency of Lowndes County is issuing a safety warning after two bear sightings have occurred over the last few weeks.

The EMA said there hasn't been a residential sighting in a few years, but it has happened in the past.

In light of that, the EMA is urging Lowndes County residents to clean their outdoor grills, make sure trash is not left unsecured and to bring pet food in overnight.

At this time, Lowndes County EMA has not disclosed specific areas of where the bear sightings occurred.

The EMA says if you see a bear, remain calm and call 911.
