LIBERTY COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The U.S. Forest Service in Florida is reporting a massive, 630-acre fire in Liberty County.

The Florida Highway Patrol is on scene. They say there are electronic signs posted in the area warning of smoke in the area.

Officials say the blaze is burning about 8 miles south of Hosford in unincorporated Liberty County.

Fire officials in the Apalachicola National Forest closed the Florida National Scenic Trail Friday between Forest Roads 107 and 120 as firefighters continue to contain the 630-acre blaze they're calling the Vilas Fire.

This is a developing story. We have a reporter heading to the scene.
