(WTXL) — Springhill Motorcycle Trail and Trout Pond Recreation Area in the Apalachicola National Forest are reopening just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

At 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, the facilities at Springhill Motorcycle trail and Trout Pond recreation area will be completely open.

“We are committed to providing customer service and advancing recreation opportunities while monitoring health data and state orders,” said Forest Supervisor Kelly Russell of the National Forests in Florida. “Our hope is, that this Memorial Day weekend will bring families together on their National Forest lands so they can reconnect, reflect and honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”

Visitors are asked to avoid congregating at trailheads and parking areas and refrain from gathering in groups of 10 or more.

Right now, the current operations plan for both sites will require morning closures until 10 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays until further notice.
