TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — American Legion Post 13 is asking Leon County for a $10,000 grant that would allow for much-needed repairs to the building.

With the cancellation of the Operation Thank You Breakfast and The Homeless Veterans Stand Down, there are available funds that can be used for the updates.

The aging building needs new floors for the kitchen and women's bathroom, along with updated carpet for the stage.

The Legion saying they want to keep their building functional but is having difficulty paying for repairs because of a lack of revenue coming in due to previous COVID-19 restrictions.

"It's nice, and that's what we're trying to keep," said Vail Frailey, with American Legion Post 13. "We're not making any money because our basic money comes from rentals, which have been few and far between, since January."

The American Legion says that these updates will keep their building updated and will allow them to better serve their community with events that benefit veterans and the people of Tallahassee.
