TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — While people in our area are being encouraged to stay home as much as possible, one alligator stopped traffic while out on a midday stroll earlier this week.

In a video posted to Facebook by local resident Gloryboy Ftshanterika, the alligator was spotted on Old Bainbridge Road in Tallahassee. He says the incident happened on Wednesday.

When the video begins, you can see a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation officer holding on to the reptile with a rope. According to the officer, the alligator was nine to 10 feet long.

Eventually, the officer begins moving the gator out into the road where both directions of traffic have been stopped. As he moves further into the road, the alligator begins rolling around wildly. That maneuver is commonly known as the species' "death roll."

As the video continues, the reptile rolls violently across both lanes of the road until the officer pulls it near a set of patrol cars on the side of the road.
