TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Airbnb officials have announced that Tallahassee hosts earned over $242,000 in income while welcoming an additional 1,700 guests to the city during the commencement ceremonies for Florida State and Florida A&M University.
According to a press release, graduation weekend represented the largest surges of guests to Tallahassee in the history of Airbnb’s platform.
Additionally, Airbnb collects and remits both the Leon County bed tax and state sales taxes on behalf of hosts thanks to tax agreements with the county and the Florida Department of Revenue. This means the surge in guests represented a boost in tax revenue as well.
Officials say Airbnb previously announced that Leon County hosts earned $3.7 million in 2018 while welcoming 28,000 guest arrivals. Airbnb has also announced that a Tallahassee guest homemade the list of #1 most wish listed counties in each of Florida.
