TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Agriculture Secretary Nikki Fried spoke to high schoolers Monday at the Florida American Legion Boys State.
That's a one-week leadership program for high school juniors. Fried talked about bills the governor is signing.
"Seeing what happened in the Panhandle, there's nothing like it. Since taking office, I've spent numerous trips up to Washington, D.C., press conferences, and press releases. I wrote personal letter s to every single member of Congress, saying that we needed a disaster package and we needed it yesterday."
This year's Boys State session features around 500 participants from almost all of Florida's 67 counties.
Each delegate was selected to attend by their local American Legion post.
