GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. — The Gadsden County Sheriff's office confirms the body that was found near an I-10 rest area last week has been identified as Kevin McLeod.

The body was found near the 162 mile marker on I-10 in Chattahoochee. His car and service dog were found abandoned at the Chattahoochee I-10 rest area last week.

He had been missing for weeks before his body was found.

A cause of death has not been determined. An autopsy report is pending.

The family of Kevin McLeod, who's been missing for weeks, is asking for help as the search for him continues. His car and service dog were found abandoned at the Chattahoochee I-10 rest area.

The Florida Highway Patrol said it's near mile marker 161 and there are multiple FHP troopers, an aircraft and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement searching for McLeod, who is from Panama City Beach. He is between 50 and 55 years old.

According to FHP, he's been missing for a couple of weeks.

FHP states they found his car abandoned at the rest area and someone found his service dog nearby and used a chip to indicate it belongs to McLeod.

A family member told us that his service dog was for calming his PTSD from his time in the Navy.

The man's brother has listed him as missing or endangered. The search is ongoing.

This is a developing story.
