TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — It's World Refugee Day and Thursday the Adult and Community Education school hosted a celebration for local refugees.
The school said many of its students this year were refugees and ACE wanted to celebrate their future in Tallahassee and in the country.
At the event, local refugees told their stories and the Congolese Children's Choir performed.
"I think here in America, here in Tallahassee, I'll fulfill my dream," said Ngena Yolondjwa, a Tallahassee refugee. "I've been welcomed by everyone in Tallahassee here and I'm thankful for that."
There was also a pot-luck lunch featuring dishes from many different countries. ACE has the largest English for Speakers of Other Languages program in the area.
