(WTXL) — The North Florida Fair Association has made the decision to cancel the 79th Annual North Florida Fair scheduled for November 5-15, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The North Florida Fair Board of Directors unanimously voted on Monday to cancel the fair due to public health concerns for fair- goers (customers, attendees, etc) and not wanting to contribute to the further spread of the COVID-19 virus.

“Cancelling this year’s Fair was a difficult decision and we realize many people look forward to coming each year. It is not something we wanted to do but rather felt we needed to do in the interest of the health and safety of the citizens of Leon and the surrounding counties”, said Mark Harvey, Executive Director of the North Florida Fair. “After consulting with other interested parties we felt it was the right decision. We intend to return in 2021 with a bigger, better fair experience next November. We appreciate your understanding in this difficult time”
