ST. GEORGE ISLAND, Fla. (WTXL) — The 5th Annual SGI Brewfest has been postponed for the third time, the festival announced Saturday in a Facebook post.

The new date will be Oct. 16, 2021, and was postponed as a safety precaution.

"While we push ahead with our efforts to stay safe here in Franklin County, we don’t think it’s the right decision to invite people from all over the country - last year we had 17 states in attendance! - to come co-mingle on the Island," said SGI Brewfest.

Another reason for the postponement stems from the tough 2020 economic climate that local breweries experienced, said the Brewfest.

The original date for the 5th Annual SGI Brewfest was April 18, 2020, and then it was postponed to Oct. 3, 2020, and it was supposed to finally happen on April 17, 2021, before being postponed again.

Current 2020 ticketholders are invited to keep their tickets for the 5th Annual Brewfest to use them in October 2021, and the Brewfest said they will follow up in an email with more information.

The SGI Brewfest is a one-day festival to promote the appreciation of craft beer, and the event is a fundraiser for the Franklin County Humane Society, according to their website.
