5-year-old tests positive for coronavirus in Suwannee County

SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — The Florida Department of Health says Suwannee County's newest confirmed COVID-19 case is a 5-year-old girl.

The case was announced on Tuesday morning. In all, FDOH is reporting 32 cases of coronavirus in the county.

At this time, health officials have not released any other information about this case.

The Florida Department of Health in Suwannee County is now conducting its contact investigation and working on identifying and notifying individuals who will need to self-monitor for symptoms for a 14-day period.

Sheriff St John is also urging everyone to follow the conditions of Gov. DeSantis' "Safer at Home" order.

If you do have to leave your home for "essential activities" or to work in "essential services", please follow the recommended social distancing guidelines, and take steps to protect yourself, including proper handwashing.
