JACKSON COUNTY FLA. (WTXL) — Five people were arrested after deputies say they tried to steal a vehicle from a Walmart parking lot in Jackson County.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, deputies received a call from an individual identifying a vehicle that was stolen in a Walmart parking lot on Saturday.

The man claimed that the vehicle belonged to his father-in-law.

During the investigation, a witness told deputies that he seen five men exit the store and began walking toward the car. When they saw the witness near the vehicle, the men turned around and walked behind the Pilot Travel Center.

Deputies say two of the suspects then circled around and attempted to approach the vehicle by deactivating the security system on the car with the key fob. The witness says he challenged the suspects and told them that they were not going to take the car.

Around the same time this was happening, deputies arrived on scene and the suspects ran away.

JCSO says all five suspects were found at various local businesses in the area.

Deputies say the Walmart's security footage showed the suspects exiting their vehicle as they arrived at the store. An AR-15 was found inside the suspects' vehicle as well as several items that deputies believe may have been stolen from the store.

JCSO says three of the five suspects were juveniles. The two adults were identified as Lamarious Powell and Delontrey Dixon, who are both 19-years-old.

All were arrested and charged with grand theft auto.
