4 arrested in connection to shooting at Valdsota boat ramp in April

LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) — Four suspects, including a 14-year-old, have been arrested in connection to a shooting at a boating ramp in Valdosta last month.

Tavio Javon McNeary Jr., 20, Jeremiah Deshaun Fulton, 18, and two other juvenile suspects have been arrested in connection to a shooting in Valdosta on April 10 where a 19-year-old man was shot in the face.

It happened at at the St. Augustine Road public boat ramp at the intersection of Val Tech and St. Augustine roads on the Withlacoochee River.

The 19-year-old victim, who has not been identified, was flown to the hospital in critical condition. The victim is now recovering from his injuries.

After an investigation, the Lowdnes County Sheriff's office said they learned the four suspects and the victim gathered at the boat ramp for a drug deal involving marijuana. During the transaction, a fight broke out and the victim was shot in the face.

As a result of the investigation, McNeary, Fulton and a 17-year-old suspect have been charged with aggravated assault. A fourth suspect, a 14-year-old, was arrested and charged with criminal attempt to distribute marijuana.

McNeary, Fulton and the 17-year-old suspect have all been booked into Lowndes County Jail and the juvenile has been detained in a regional youth detention center.

Deputies say additional charges will most likely be filed as the investigation continues.
