BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WTXL) — Three people are behind bars after officers caught them in the middle of a drug deal at a local park.

Tina Gainous, 45, Charles Sheffield Jr., 43, and Thelma Lamb, 44, were all arrested by Bainbridge Public Safety.

On April 5, at about 4 p.m., officers say they spotted a drug transaction taking place in the parking lot of the College Street Park and Playground.

Officers said Gainous parked and then got out of her vehicle holding a small white package. She then walked over to a pick-up truck that was also parked in the parking lot and got in the passenger side. At the same time, BPS says Sheffield, who was sitting in Gainous’ vehicle, rolled down the window and dropped a small plastic package onto the asphalt.

When officers approached the vehicle, they could smell marijuana. They then asked the driver, Lamb, and Gainous to step out from the vehicle.

When Gainous got out of the truck, officers saw a small white package on the floorboard that had 39 Hydrocodone pills inside. They then walked over to the passenger side of Gainous’ parked vehicle and found the small plastic package that Sheffield had dropped out of the window that contained 14 white Hydrocodone pills.

During the investigation, officers learned that Lamb was at the park with the intentions of purchasing the Hydrocodone pills from Gainous and Sheffield. Officers also discovered several bags of marijuana that were hidden inside of the vehicle’s console.

All three individuals were taken to Bainbridge Public Safety Headquarters.
