LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) — A juvenile and two employees at the Leon Regional Juvenile Detention Center have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Department of Juvenile Justice made the announcement Thursday afternoon.

"DJJ is committed to keeping its stakeholders, community partners, and the general public informed on the number of positive COVID-19 cases in its state-operated juvenile detention centers and juvenile residential commitment programs," officials said in a statement.

Officials say any youth displaying flu-like symptoms will be seen by the medical staff on-site and screened appropriately.

Juveniles at the facility are continuously monitored for symptoms, according to DJJ.

These are the first cases of coronavirus that have been reported at the facility. We're reaching out to the facility for more information.
