TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) -- A local lawyer is using his decades of experience to help families make sense of the complex legal system.
Lawyer and lobbyist Reggie Garcia turned author earlier this year with the release of How to Leave Prison Early: Florida Clemency, Parole and Work Release.
Garcia has more than 20 years presenting clemency cases to four different Florida governors and Cabinet members. He used that knowledge to create this "how to" guide, which goes over 25 steps for clemency, 17 steps for parole, seven steps for work release and four steps for conditional medical release.
Garcia says, "I worked this book to help inmates and their families, since most of them cannot afford a lawyer." He joined us on WTXL Midday to talk more about his mission. Click the thumbnail to see the interview.
