LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - While adults cast their votes Tuesday, little ones at Leon County Schools also got the chance to feel what it is like to vote.

At 19 public schools in Leon County, kids voted on the same candidates on the real polls such as Rick Scott vs. Bill Nelson for Senate and Ron DeSantis vs. Andrew Gillum for Mayor.

A teacher at Gilchrist Elementary School said it is important to start teaching kids how to vote early.

"To participate in the process. We want them to be in the habit of doing this even from kindergarten all the way up to be in the habit of going to vote seeing that it is easy and not scary," said Sha Maddox, 4th Grade Teacher at Gilchrist Elementary School. "It is something that we all need to do."

If you were wondering, yes the little ones got the "I Voted Sticker" after casting their ballot.
