TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Leaders are educating the next generation of empowered women and business owners.

Every summer, The Oasis Center For Women and Girls host a summer camp to teach young girls the basics of how to start a business.

Girls between 5-and-13-years-old had two weeks to plan and build this business from scratch.

Friday, they showed off the result, the 'Out of this World Carnival.'

It was full of games and food for everyone to enjoy.

The goal for camp organizers is to instill a healthy self-esteem at a young age.

"We're trying with this camp to showcase all of the things that women can do and all of the things that girls can do," said Michelle Gomez, Executive Director of The Oasis Center For Women and Girls. "To really impart that this is absolutely anything they want to be."

All the proceeds will go to the girls' charity of choice, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The event raised more than $700.
